B-Cubed participated in the ESA Living Planet Symposium between 22 and 27 June 2025 in Vienna, Austria. The event takes place every three years and is one of the biggest forums for Earth observation. In 2025, its emphasis was transitioning from ‘observation to climate action and sustainability for Earth’.
On 22 June, B-Cubed hosted a hands-on session during the Earth Science Frontiers theme. The session entitled “Biodiversity Data Cubes for Earth Science: From SQL Queries to Standardized Geospatial Output.” allowed researchers and biosphere analysts to receive practical training on building and applying biodiversity data cubes using GBIF data. It was organised by leading experts from B-Cubed’s consortium, including Lina M. Estupinan-Suarez, Henrique Pereira, Lissa Breugelmans, Rocio Beatriz Cortes Lobos, Luise Quoss, Emmanuel Oceguera, Duccio Rocchini, Maarten Trekels and Quentin Groom.

In addition, on 24 and 25 June, B-Cubed took part in a side-event to the ESA Living Planet Symposium focusing on the Green Deal Data Space. The event was jointly organised by B-Cubed and its sister projects AD4GD, FAIRiCUBE and USAGE and included two eventful days of workshops and presentations. Participants had the chance to expand their knowledge on different innovative tools for data interoperability and management, and the ways for the successful implementation of such tools. A joint policy brief on the development of the Green Deal Data Space, prepared by the four projects, was also launched during the event.
