Introducing B-Cubed's new indicator factsheets at the BEeS2026 conference

13 July 2026

From 7 to 10 June, B-Cubed was part of the LifeWatch ERIC Biodiversity & Ecosystem eScience Conference (BEeS2026) that took place in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. The conference brought together scientists and innovators to explore challenges and emerging opportunities in biodiversity and ecosystem science.

During the conference, B-Cubed distributed its brand new Indicator Factsheets at the dissemination booth shared with the two other EU-funded Horizon projects BMD and ANERIS. The Indicator Factsheets support the practical use of B-Cubed’s workflow, which supports the creation and analysis of a data cube based on GBIF data. Further documentation is available at https://docs.b-cubed.eu/. Overview of all available packages at https://b-cubed-eu.r-universe.dev/builds.

The factsheets were developed in connection to B-Cubed’s Case Study III: Regional Indicators in Europe, which aimed to evaluate the indicator performance and suitability for monitoring biodiversity trends in Flanders using real-world data on native and invasive species. The case study focused specifically on comparing Natura 2000 and non-Natura 2000 sites, quantifying and interpreting indicator uncertainty, and accounting for survey effort.

If you missed out on the BEeS 2026 Conference, you can find all the factsheets on our website.
