Join B-Cubed in mapping Europe's biodiversity initiatives at GEOBON 2023

22 May 2023

Organised by GEO BON and its partners, the Global Conference on Biodiversity and Monitoring is set to take place from 10 to 13 October 2023, in Montreal, Canada. Marking a milestone following the UN CBD's COP15 and the Global Biodiversity Framework agreement, this conference will delve into the pressing challenge of "Monitoring Biodiversity for Action." The event will be a platform for experts to focus on the development of innovative techniques and best practices for observing and monitoring biodiversity, with the ultimate aim of supporting transformative policy and conservation initiatives.

B-Cubed will be participating at the conference with a joint session on ‘From Insight to Action: Mapping Europe's Biodiversity Initiatives and their Path towards 2030 Ambitions’. During this session, experts will delve into the practical implementation of the Europa Biodiversity Observation Network, emphasising critical aspects such as sampling design, open data infrastructures, protected area monitoring, and data intelligence. Leveraging the Essential Biodiversity Variables workflows and data-driven scenario planning of platforms like EuropaBON, GBIF: The Global Biodiversity Information Facility, NaturaConnect, Biodiversa+, and B-Cubed, the goal is to establish connections across various initiatives in the data value-chain, contributing to impactful policy changes and conservation efforts throughout Europe.
