B-Cubed partners have published a factsheet on GBIF’s service for downloading species occurrence cubes. The factsheet is available in B-Cubed’s Media Centre.
Species occurrence cubes are tab-separated csv files containing species occurrence measures (e.g. a count) aggregated by taxonomic, temporal and/or spatial dimensions (e.g. by species, year, etc.).
The factsheet explains why they are important and how they can be useful to biodiversity data researchers in their work. It also gives step-by-step instructions on how to create species occurrence cubes using GBIF.org and defines the specific dimensions of each cube.
More tutorials on how to generate biodiversity data cubes and how to use them can be found on B-Cubed’s Guides and Tutorials Platform.
