B-Cubed video explains the latest SQL-based service by GBIF

3 April 2025

A video by Andrew Rodrigues (GBIF) and Quentin Groom (Meise Botanic Garden) explains how to create and download species occurrence cubes using GBIF’s newly introduced SQL-based service. This service enables users to customise biodiversity data summaries across geographic, temporal, and taxonomic dimensions, supporting biodiversity modelling and indicator development.

As part of B-Cubed’s Work Package 2, led by the Research Institute for Nature and Forest (INBO), this development improves access to structured biodiversity data for policy and research. Each download receives a unique DOI and users can also customise queries within the interface to define dimensions and resolution.
