At the Living Planet Symposium 2025, B-Cubed will host a hands-on session titled “Biodiversity Data Cubes for Earth Science: From SQL Queries to Standardized Geospatial Output.” Part of the Earth Science Frontiers theme, the session offers researchers and biosphere analysts practical training on building and applying biodiversity data cubes using GBIF data.
Event Registration Deadline: 26 May 2025. Register here.
Participants will follow step-by-step exercises to extract species occurrence data with an SQL query, generate and use Virtual Suitability Data cubes in modelling workflows, and convert results into EBVCubes—standardised geospatial formats that support integration with Earth observation tools.
The session equips attendees with methods to support biodiversity monitoring and evidence-based conservation policy.
Session organisers include Lina M. Estupinan-Suarez, Henrique Pereira, Lissa Breugelmans, Rocio Beatriz Cortes Lobos, Luise Quoss, Emmanuel Oceguera, Duccio Rocchini, Maarten Trekels and Quentin Groom.
