On 21 November, Quentin Groom presented B-Cubed’s approach towards contributing to improved biodiversity policy at the International Symposium on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Functions under Global Change, hosted by the University of Sassari in Alghero, Sardinia.
His talk, "Creating the Vision of Rapid, Repeatable, Reactive Data Workflows for Policy on Biodiversity", showcased how B-Cubed’s biodiversity data cubes integrate diverse datasets, automate workflows, and enhance collaboration. The event provided opportunities to connect with experts and explore synergies with initiatives like GBIF and the Italian National Biodiversity Future Centre (NBFC).
The symposium highlighted critical themes, including biodiversity monitoring networks, essential biodiversity variables, and digital platforms’ transformative role in conservation. The symposium underscored the importance of local biodiversity initiatives in addressing global challenges and left participants inspired by the wealth of expertise and collaboration on display from Italy.
