Upcoming hands-on session to explore GBIF’s species occurrence cubes service

29 April 2025

On 14 May 2025, B-Cubed partners from GBIF  invite biodiversity data users to join the next session of the Data Use Club, focusing on a new tool from GBIF for accessing species occurrence data.

The session will introduce GBIF’s recently launched cube download service—a straightforward way to generate and download summaries of species occurrence records by selecting geographic, temporal, and taxonomic dimensions. This new functionality is designed to support biodiversity monitoring and policy by making data more accessible.

Led by Andrew Rodrigues, John Waller, and Lina Estupinan Suarez, the session will cover:

  • How to use the cube download service

  • Understanding data aggregates and grids

  • Key data quality considerations

  • A live demonstration of the user interface

  • Real-world examples from B-Cubed

When: 14 May 2025, 09:00–10:30 CEST

Register for the event here.

This session is ideal for researchers, policymakers, and anyone working with biodiversity data who wants more from GBIF’s tools.
